AGENDA

Anticorruption issues are highly topical. A lot is being written and said on inadmissibility of corrupt practices, but tolerance of unfair acts and frauds is still very high. One can see decisions “pushed through”, accounts “creatively tailored”, businesses comfortably “settled”. It is hard to imagine the existence of companies whose employees and top managers put high priority on ethics and clean business habits. Hard indeed! Nevertheless, such companies do exist. Johan Vanderplaetse, Vice-president of Emerson Process Management in CIS and Turkey, is going to tell about their company practices. In his lecture, Mr. Vanderplaetse will touch upon the following issues:

  • What is corruption and how does it impact business?
  • What international legislative acts are aimed at restricting corruption and what are the peculiarities of anticorruption regulation in Russia?
  • What can a company do to protect itself from corruption and run business ethically?
  • Top management attitude is the key element of the company anticorruption policy, or what ethical dilemmas challenge the top manager?
  • What is ethical business and how should it be run (as exemplified by Emerson Process Management?
