YBR Advisory Council Meeting in Voronezh

On January 31 Youth Business Russia (YBR) Programme in Voronezh Oblast welcomed the YBR Advisory Council (AC) which decided to look into the progress of the programme in the region.  Voronezh visited Sergey Generalov, President, FESCO Transportation Group (Chairman of AC), Dianne Cornes, Director, Network Expansion, The Prince's Youth Business International (YBI), Clare Melford, CEO, International Business Leaders Forum, Michael Pugh, Partner, Hogan Lovells (CIS), Victor Sedov, President, The U.S. Russia Center for Entrepreneurship, Nicholas Wilcock, President, "Bank Credit Suisse (Moscow)" and Chief Operating Officer of Russia and the countries of CIS, Boris Tkachenko, YBR Programme Manager, Head of the Branch Office in Russia, IBLF and Elena Trakhtenberg, YBR COO. The single day witnessed a number of very interesting events involving numerous participants.

Members of the Advisory Council were invited to a meeting of the expert committee as observers. The meeting examined 3 business plans and approved two of them. One of the projects envisages establishment of a hog-breeding farm, while another one contemplates opening a retail outlet for selling car paints and bumpers, both in rural areas of Voronezh Oblast.

Hogan Lovells, the law firm partnering with YBR, conducted a workshop for young entrepreneurs and their mentors. Michael Pugh, a member of the Advisory Council, and the company employees, who had come to Voronezh within the framework of their corporate volunteer project, answered various questions concerning legal aspects of small business operations.

The field meeting of the YBR Advisory Council was devoted to the 2011 Programme implementation results at the federal level and on the territory of Voronezh Oblast; it considered the targets for 2012 and the prospects of sharing the best practices in the regions involved in the Programme implementation in Russia.

Finally, the end of the day saw the regular meeting of the YBR Club members, which was attended by the guests from Advisory Council. The young entrepreneurs, mentors, representatives of the regional authorities and various organizations supporting small business could participate in the discussion designated as Small and Big Business Interrelations. The conversation proved to be highly animated and touched upon different aspects of entrepreneurship development in Russia.
